Way back when, Piers Anthony released a funny set of books. Xanth brought humor and puns to the table and left a
little bit lot of magic in his wake.
A Spell for Chameleon is the first Xanth novel, telling the story of Bink, a young man who doesn’t seem to have magic in a land where everything and everyone is magical. Everyone has a talent, and that’s that. If you don’t, you’re sent to Mundania.
In a quest to find out if he has a talent, Bink meets a lot of friends, frienemies, and enemies. And there are puns. Many puns. Lots of them.
I recommend this novel for anyone who wants a funny story full of puns (did I mention puns?!) and humor matched with a good plot and excellent characters.
It even has a moral of the story (or three), which only serves to make me love this novel (and series) even more.
A Spell for Chameleon is available in kindle format, although my copy is in paperback.
